Notes from Monday night
Members really liked the 2 auctions from last year. They want to do this again, same format, and same time: April and Oct.
Members also appreciated Greg's financial review. This generated a lot of good discussions.
ICCS submission: 3 potential takers with about 5 coins each. Pat, Randy, Fadi. Also I. believe Ashbrook could be persuaded to submit about 25 too.
More Bank Note topics were mentioned, as well as perhaps a session on Scripoplilia (Stock certificates etc.)
Coin Production (hammered, milled etc.), from start to finish
Something about the B of C anniversary ??
RCNA, ANA, ONA: questions came up regarding what does the club get in return for our dues?? Randy says he gets the periodicals and brings these to the meetings. I offered to do a photo-shot of the cover and table of contents for each new issue and list these on our web-site. I believe I can do this without infringing on any copyrights. The members supported this.
Also, some members wanted to log into the RCNA, ANA and ONA sites, but it was not clear as to what restrictions exist, and who in the club has access to the User ID's and passwords.
David B. did a plug for the CNRNC web-site, encouraging members to avail themselves of all the materials being posted there. He did express some frustration about lack of a good search tool, storage limitations and the need for more visibility (particularly in contrast to the American equivalent site (NGC perhaps??)). I spoke after the meeting to David regarding collaborating with the ONS web-site, and perhaps with his budget, and content, and my IT background, we could do something beneficial to both the CNRNC and ONS together. He agreed, so I'll be following up with him on some options.
That's about it.
